Down 8 pounds and getting strong!!

I’m beyond excited that I’m seeing the changes in myself that I have been working so hard for!!  For the past couple of weeks I’ve been doing cardio twice a day and I started using weights.  I’ve also become a fan of push ups and the pull up bar.  I have changed my eating habits, eating mostly grilled chicken, egg whites, vegetables and fruit.

Sounds crazy, I know, but I really am starting to like working out.  Not going to lie I’m not a huge fan of the food I’m eating, but now that I’m seeing results, the chicken and eggs taste even better!  I love sweets and I miss them but so not worth the strength I’ve gained and the eight pounds I’ve lost.  Don’t get me wrong, I still do treat myself, some things are irresistible!  :)

If you were wondering, I am 5 feet 2 inches tall.  I started weighing 141 and am now at 133.  It really is amazing the difference even 8 pounds can make!  I hope to be writing soon with some more positive results!

Twice-a-day cardio, nice to meet you…

Today starts my twice-a-day cardio kick!!  I developed 6 meals/day meal plans and am using my elliptical machine twice a day.  Today I did 25 minutes on the machine for both my morning and afternoon workouts, burning a combined 500 calories! I ate meals consisting of egg whites, grilled chicken, cottage cheese, cucumber, kiwi, and apple.  And of course, lots of water!  

I feel exhausted but I’m proud of all of the hard work I put in today.  :)

Lists, charts, and plans, oh my!

Have done lots of squats today, my legs are feeling it!  Now calf raises until it burns so bad I can barely stand it.. 

Oh and I made myself a water chart because I’ve decided I’m not going to be a slacker in that area anymore.  It seems to be helping to keep me on track.  I do much better with lists, charts, and plans.  I’m thinking meal plans are next for this girl!  <3

Addicted to the pain..

Got up and got the heart beating early this morning.  After regretting an afternoon workout yesterday, I’m feeling even better about jumping right into cardio this morning.  My upper body is still pretty sore from my pull up and push up attempts so it’ll be a leg day for me again today.  I’m finding that now that I’ve been using the elliptical pretty regularly, I’m not getting as sore as I’d like.  I’m going to do sets of squats all day and hope to not be able to walk tonight!  The pain is addicting! ;)

I use this beginner push up video from Scooby.  I found it really helpful, thought some other beginners out there might find it helpful too.

And, the tropical background of the video makes you really want to work on that body! ;)

After yesterdays pull up and push up work outs my upper body is pretty spent!  So today I’m giving my arms and chest a rest and just did cardio.  The more I’m on my elliptical the more I like it, really.  I do wish I got my workout in earlier in the day so tomorrow that’s my plan.  Starting with a morning workout gives me the kick-start I need to help me to be on point all day.

Until then, lots of water and protein, don’t want to waste all of my hard work!!

Oh and I’m going to take some “before” pictures soon, can’t wait to have some progress pics to post!  :)

I can do a pull up!!  Yes, just one, but this is exciting for me!! 

I’m not one of those people that started their fitness journey already strong.  I am busy with 2 kids and working and until just recently I wasn’t working out at all.  I watched this video by Scooby and have since been using his techniques.  I’m getting stronger, I can feel it, and I’m able to do a pull up now!  Thought some other fitness beginners would find this video helpful. =)

Got my sweat on for the first time since getting over the Norovirus, felt good!  =)  It’s amazing how quickly you lose strength and endurance after not working out for almost 2 weeks. =/

Our house was plagued with a nasty stomach bug.  =( I got sick first, then my daughter, my son, and then finally my husband.  It’s been over a week now since we all alternated being sick, so needless to say I haven’t worked out or made any fitness progress in a bit.  After many sleepless and sick nights, I made lite of the situation with my husband saying that at least I didn’t need to worry about food I’d eaten at our last family Christmas dinner of the year. ;) I’m finally feeling almost human again so here I go again! =)
